Votes cast in Israel for the fourth time in two years

Votes were cast on Tuesday amid a prolonged political deadlock in Israel and allegations of corruption against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is the fourth time in two years that the country has voted for parliamentary elections. Netanyahu claims to have won the election based on the success of the Corona vaccine in Israel and improving diplomatic relations with Arab countries.

With this, for the first time in two years filled with political turmoil, Netanyahu is facing a tough fight with the opposition parties. In addition to Netanyahu in the parliamentary elections, Yair Lapid, Gideon Saar, and Naphtali Bennett are major contenders for power. Netanyahu has been the Prime Minister of the country for the longest time (five times).
